I really wanted this experience to be better. I’d describe this Porsche as a “40-yard fake”: good from afar, but far from good once you get closer.
There are plenty of positives. It’s fast, fun to drive, corners like it’s on rails, and the air conditioning is wicked cold. The huge panoramic sunroof is also great. Around town, the car was genuinely enjoyable to drive.
The host also couldn’t have been nicer when I picked it up.
Unfortunately, the vehicle itself had several issues. The host mentioned a crack in the windshield. I saw the crack near the base, but once I got inside, I discovered a second crack running directly through the driver’s line of sight. That was concerning.
The tire-pressure monitoring system repeatedly warned that the tires were low. The car also had not been washed before pickup, including a large bird dropping on the front fender, and it did not have a full tank of gas.
I could overlook those things, but the problems continued. The passenger-side window would only lower using the driver’s control.
The biggest issue was water soaking the passenger-side footwell whenever the air conditioning ran for an extended period. The carpeting and floor mat became saturated. I discovered this when my 87-year-old father stepped into the car wearing his church shoes and had to leave them in a puddle.
For a vehicle with more than 100,000 miles, it looked reasonably good during my initial walkaround, and it was fun to drive. However, the cracked windshield, warning lights, electrical issue, lack of cleanliness, a 1/2 empty fuel tank, and a water-filled passenger footwell made the overall experience disappointing.
I made sure to wash the car before returning it, so at least the next guest will receive it cleaner than I did.
