I rented the white Range Rover Velar for the weekend. Thankfully, it got me from point A to point B, but overall it did not provide the luxury experience I expected.
The vehicle had a very strong cigarette smell that was overwhelming from the moment I got in. The odor was so bad that I had to drive with the windows down for most of the trip just to make it tolerable.
In addition to the odor, the vehicle had heavy vibrations and clearly seemed to need an alignment. When I brought this up, the host stated there was nothing wrong with the vehicle because there were no warning lights on the dashboard. Unfortunately, the absence of dashboard lights does not mean a vehicle is in proper condition.
When I contacted the host and asked if I could switch vehicles because the car felt unsafe to drive, my request was not really acknowledged.
A Range Rover Velar is marketed as a luxury SUV, and I expected a comfortable, smooth, and enjoyable ride. Instead, I was left dealing with a strong smoke odor and concerns about the vehicle’s condition throughout the rental. I would not rent this vehicle again.
