Pickup was easy and instructions were simple and straightforward. Messages about the process came promptly before arrival and drop off times. The car was clean, drove great and got great gas mileage. We had two people on our trip and our luggage fit nicely in the trunk space. The car came equipped with a toll pass that would allow you to be billed after rental return. We were able to avoid toll roads for our trip, but it would’ve come in handy had we needed to take one. We were on vacation, so we found the mileage limit to be abundantly reasonable for our needs.
I would recommend checking with your current auto insurer for rental car coverage before purchasing the third party coverage, it is rather expensive and our policy covered us without having to pay anything additional. I’m not letting that factor into the rating here since that’s not unique to this individual, it’s just a friendly heads up to anyone looking to rent a vehicle. Another thing we found is airports charge about a $35 permit fee for allowing the hosts to park the vehicle on the property for pickup. This is separate from the daily fee (about $30) for parking that you pay upon exit. This can be avoided with delivery or pickups offsite. It was a learning curve for us as it’s probably cheaper to get an Uber to an offsite pickup than pay $65 dollars in airport fees. Again, this is not something I’m factoring into the host’s rating because the fees are charged by airports and go directly to it, not a fee from the host.
The experience was great and I appreciate that we were able to get around on our own time while visiting the area.
