Stay away from this scammer. Secured the vehicle quite some time ahead of the trip. Showed up to airport and took the check in photos of vehicle with app. Went well. Pulled out of parking spot and took the parking ticket to the exit where I was then hit a $55 parking bill for 5 previous days of parking even though I’ve only had the vehicle for 15 minutes at this point.
Think about it. You’re out of state, think you have the important rental car already taken care of and paid good money for, and then you get charged $55 for 5 days. The owner obviously planned this out and probably has done so before. Using Turo customers as a built in free parking garage that acts as a rental check in/out as well. He passes the cost to the unsuspecting customer who is in a situation where you have 0 options to take another route quickly. Since you are obviously past the cancellation window when you have the vehicle in your possession.
I posted the receipt to the chat with the owner. He acknowledges it and apologizes and says he will make it right. He doesn’t and when you return it ghosts any communication. Turo refunds you $8.50 to cover possible parking expenses at pickup and drop off which is obviously not covering your money you spent just to leave the lot.
Be careful who you rent from on here, and just know that Turo cannot modify the $8.50 reimbursement. That’s literally what I got in out of this. So f you like being screwed double not only use Turo who allows this bad business practices to happen on their platform as a built in cash grab for the car owner, but also pick this guys vehicles so you can get a good screwing.
Turo has escalated my claim and if I hear anything different I’ll update but until then stay away from this joke
