This was an unfortunate first experience with Turo for me. I had purposely picked out a model of car that I wanted to use for my trip only to have a check engine light on the vehicle be on before I even left the pickup lot in was parked in. The positive of this situation was that the host was responsive when I reached out about the light. However they only had smaller vehicles available as a replacement so while I appreciate the host trying to correct the situation it was not really what I had intended for in my trip. Additionally the replacement vehicle from the host I used instead gets rented at a reduced rate of this vehicle but even after asking the host about getting refunded the difference I was still charged for the original amount of renting this vehicle. I will likely go back to using traditional rental car services to avoid these issues in the future.
