The car was easily accessible, however wasn’t as close to the airport as anticipated. While the listing showed pick-up being 2 miles from the airport, it was a 15 minute drive, and cost me over $60 in Uber fares to pick up and drop off the car during our trip. As soon as I picked up the car and got in, I could smell smoke. I then immediately received a very pointed message stating that I could not smoke in the car and would be charged for clean-up if there were signs of smoking. Only when I responded stating that it already smelled, and we were not smokers, therefore will not blamed or cover any cleanup fees, did he admit that a prior renter had smoked in the car and he was having issues getting the smell to fade. I will say the owner was responsive but not very flexible with us—due to a flight cancellation and needing to take an earlier flight than planned, I requested to arrange for a different drop off location—he would not oblige. Therefore, due to no time to get all the way to his mandatory drop off point and still catch our flight, I had to return the car without filling the gas tank. Even though I gave him advance warning of this, and the reason, he charged me for a full tank (which I expected) but also tacked on a penalty fee of $10. All in all, I was hoping for a bit more flexibility and understanding from the owner, and I spent more going thru Turo this time, than I would have going thru a typical rental car company.
