The Tesla Model X was fantastic. Truly made our trip. Would not have been able to enjoy the things we did without it. Car was in good working/clean condition. Matt was great. Pickup/drop-off was seamless and he quickly answered any questions that came up. Would absolutely rent from him in the future if I were to come back to the Monterey/Carmel area.

1 star. The trip was seriously compromised by a tire defect that was present from the moment of pickup and that Matthew failed to address despite being notified.
At delivery, the front left tire registered 38 PSI while all three other tires read the normal 42 PSI. The pressure dropped to 36 PSI the next day — I notified Matthew immediately. Rather than arranging an inspection or fix, he acknowledged the message and did nothing. By the morning of my departure the tire had dropped to 32 PSI and triggered a flat tire alert. I had to make an emergency stop to fill the tire on the way to the airport, disrupting my entire final morning on a business trip.
Matthew attributed the issue to road debris picked up during the trip. That explanation does not hold up: the front left was the only tire that showed any pressure loss — the other three held at 42 PSI for the entire rental. This was a pre-existing problem delivered with the car.
Because of the tire emergency I was forced to request a one-hour extension and pay the $93 fee through the portal just to avoid a late return penalty — a direct consequence of his defective tire. When I asked Matthew to reimburse the $93, he refused, stating it was too late because the payment had already been processed.
He waived a small charging fee, which I acknowledge. But delivering a car with a compromised tire, ignoring a mid-trip warning, deflecting responsibility onto road debris, and then refusing to refund a fee that existed solely because of his vehicle's defect does not meet any reasonable standard for a host. I would not rent from this host again.
Hi Vincent, for clarity, you first reported the tire at 36 PSI on day 3, not at pickup. That timing is consistent with picking up debris during the trip, not a pre-existing issue. I would not deliver a vehicle with a known condition, especially something easily fixable like a slow leak.
As a courtesy, I waived the tire repair and recharge fees. You also requested a refund for the final day after these were waived, which I declined.
