Interior was in rough shape. Not reflected in pictures. Sunroof broken. Host did make it right and swapped vehicles.

We first rented a white Highlander that looked beautiful in the photographs. When we got there to pick it up we couldn’t help but notice the quarter panel, door and hood were covered in huge black plastic triangles stickers that covered peeling paint and damage. We contacted the host who did nothing. We complained to Turo and they assigned us a Mazda but with the same host. The host promised there be no surprises with the Mazda. My wife parked at Walmart and when she came back the car wouldn’t start. The host arrived quickly, saw the very corroded battery, went inside Walmart and bought a new battery. While in Walmart, the wind blew the door shut and automatically locked with my wife’s purse and key inside on the coldest day of the year. Host tried to pry the door open but hand and then tried to get a fishing pole (he bought at Walmart) through the door opening but couldn’t. Host went to his shop and was back in less than an hour with a new key. When we returned the car, he pointed out a crack in the window at the same place he tried to pry open the door. Host tried to blame us for the crack. The whole experience with this host was a nightmare. According to the host he has more than 40 cars and the pickup location is a used car lot.
We’re sorry this trip felt frustrating. When concerns were raised about the Highlander, we coordinated with Turo and immediately swapped the vehicle. When the Mazda had a battery issue, we arrived promptly and installed a brand-new battery at no cost. After the car was accidentally locked, we returned with a new key in under an half hour, also free. We declined a requested refund/discount in exchange for a positive review, as we operate honestly per Turo standards.
