I reserved this car the night before for 10 AM and received it at 10:30 AM. Ryan communicated well with me, as I needed an extra car seat and it wouldn’t let me add it on, so he gave it to me complimentary. I thought that was very awesome. However, when we picked up the car, there was a lot of white debris throughout the vehicle and a weird substance on one of the car seats. This was my first Turo rental, so I was disappointed that it wasn’t as clean as a car rental I would get from the airport. I didn’t want to be nitpicky, so I didn’t say anything.

Carrying forward twenty-four hours into having the car, we had a blowout on the highway. There was no spare tire for us to fix this problem. When I went to check for the spare tire, all I found was a bunch of leftover trash from his past Turo drivers. He had mentioned that the manufacturer didn’t equip the car with a spare tire, which is why there wasn't one in the vehicle. We did have Roadside Assistance, so we were able to get a tow truck there within 40 minutes, which was nice it didn’t take up my entire day because we were on the way to Universal Studios. Ryan communicated with me via the Turo app the entire time, which I appreciated.

I expressed that I thought this whole situation could have been prevented as I looked at the tires. They were VERY worn out, with three different brands among the four tires and all in poor condition. (I took pictures just in case I need them.) By the looks of the tread, the tires could use an alignment because the side that blew out was horrible. He told me the car had had an inspection before we got it, which I find hard to believe. While communicating with him, I felt there was a lack of accountability if I’m
being honest. Yes, flat tires happen all the time but set your drivers up for success.

I also had to pay for two days for the car, even though we had it for only 25 hours. That’s Turo’s policy, so it’s nothing to do with Ryan.
Just throwing that out there so you carefully select a safe car. There is an open claim on the car, so I’m waiting to see if this will fall on me or if Ryan will be held responsible for the situation. If it ends up being forced on me, I would give this a one-star rating. I’m only giving it two stars because Ryan communicated well with me, and I consider myself a very fair person. CHECK YOUR TIRES PEOPLE! & Ryan please consider providing safe tires as families are traveling on the road.
