I had a very disappointing experience with this rental and would not feel comfortable renting this vehicle again.
The pickup process started with communication issues. I arrived at approximately 11:45 AM for a scheduled 12:30 PM pickup. I was told the vehicle was still being prepared, which was understandable. However, I did not receive the lockbox information needed to access the key until I reached out myself. At 12:16 PM, I messaged the host asking whether the lock code would be provided at 12:30 PM. The message was read, and at 12:22 PM I was informed they could provide it immediately and was finally given the lockbox code. The process could have been much smoother with proactive communication.
Unfortunately, the much bigger issue occurred later that same day.
I picked up the vehicle at 12:30 PM and drove to one location for a few hours. By approximately 8:00 PM, less than eight hours after starting my trip, the vehicle experienced what appeared to be a serious transmission or shifter malfunction. A warning message appeared indicating “Service Shifter,” and the transmission indicator became erratic. The gear selector would not move the vehicle out of Park, and when it finally did respond, the dashboard still showed the vehicle as being in Park even though it was moving.
This was extremely frightening and immediately put me into panic mode. I had rented the vehicle for work and suddenly found myself stranded with a vehicle that was not operating properly. I attempted to reach the host but was unable to get assistance when I needed it most.
Thankfully, Turo roadside assistance stepped in and was excellent. They quickly arranged for a tow truck and an Uber to get me home safely. Even then, I was still stressed and in shock because many of my work-related belongings were inside the vehicle. Fortunately, I was eventually able to get everything sorted out.
While I appreciate Turo’s support during the situation, a vehicle experiencing a major transmission or shifter issue less than eight hours into a rental is unacceptable. Combined with the communication issues during pickup and the inability to reach the host when the vehicle became disabled, this was an extremely stressful experience that significantly impacted my day and my work.

Thank you for sharing your vehicle with me for a special occasion. The car was smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable to drive, and it made the day even more memorable. The only issue I noticed was a slight smoke odor in the vehicle. Otherwise, everything went smoothly, and I appreciated the opportunity to rent it.
