Firstly, the host was great. All my complaints are about turo support.
The car had issues with the USB C cable so we were unable to use CarPlay or charge our phones, however, we felt we could deal with that. We drove from long beach to mammoth lakes. The car did not start on the second day. I called turo support and the only option they gave me was to tow the car. I was left stranded. They advised me to rent a third party car since they have no support for one way trips. There was less than 48 hours before a snow storm was coming in and luckily the local enterprise car rental was able to get me a sedan though it was not rated for snow travel so we left our holiday early. We had no car for the middle of the holiday. Waiting for the two truck meant we missed a dinner reservation and lost our $100 deposit. I now have to get reimbursed for the unused days and the third party rental and when calling up was advised it could not be done over the phone and I have to wait for a supervisor to contact me. I will likely never use turo ever again after this experience knowing the support is so poor.
I feel sorry for us for such a stressful experience on the trip. I also feel very sorry for the host who did not seem to be getting updated by turo support on the location of their car that got towed. I imagine it’s an electrical fault and the car will be able to be easily fixed but turo support didn’t offer a way for us to get that car emergency fixed so we could drive it back. It left both myself and the host out of luck. I hope Turo is able to fix the situation.
