Our experience renting with Orlando was an absolute NIGHTMARE. We booked and paid $372 for a whole week. We booked to pickup a day before we were leaving on our trip just to be sure we had that part taken care of. On the day of our 9am reservation, Orlando sent a Turo message with instructions to pick up the car & where the key was located with photos whenever we were coming. We were all set; or so we thought. Our children were sick so we were at home caring for them and put off picking the car up for later. Since we had all the info and it wasn’t a hand-to-hand pick up where the car owner would be present, and the car was paid in full for a whole week, we didn’t think the pickup time was urgent. Later when we were preparing to leave to pick the car up, I saw a text message on my phone from Orlando asking if we were still coming. When I replied to the message, he replied letting me know he cancelled our trip and we’d have to call Turo to rebook. When I called Turo, they informed us that Orlando reported us as a “Guest no show” and we would not be receiving a refund, and if we booked the car again we would have to pay in full AGAIN. Orlando never gave us the courtesy of CALLING our phone number to let us know he was cancelling it or there was a 2-hour policy. It’s not his responsibility of course, but that’s just being a DECENT HUMAN who cares about more than just getting free money! Since our trip was already planned, we paid ANOTHER $450 to rebook the same car with Orlando. He made us wait until 9:30 at night to pick up the car and he still wasn’t even present so why make us wait that long?? Our vacation was nice but this cloud was definitely hovering over the entire vacation. Orlando was paid $800 of our hard-earned money (double the price) and never had the heart to even offer us SOME of it back once we rebooked and successfully returned the car in excellent condition. I mean, that was the LEAST he could do. We will NEVER book with him ever again! I tried to give ZERO stars but the system won't let me.
