I had an excellent experience renting John’s Jeep. He was communicative, helpful, and kind. The car was spotless and easy to find in the parking garage. I had no issues with the car during my trip. Would absolutely rent again.

The car was exactly as described and was in great shape. I had John drop off the car at our Airbnb. Communication was fantastic. He gave me a quick rundown through the car. Just showed me how few things work. And then we are off on our vacation. I would definitely rent from John again if I'm ever in the area.

Please keep in mind this vehicle CANNOT go down the dirtroads at Joshua Tree National Park. Taking this vehicle down dirtroads has caused front suspension issues which you WILL be financially responsible for ANY/ALL damaged parts.

The jeep was in good condition and clean. We were excited to go to Joshua Tree National Park so we loaded up and headed out. Just a few miles out of town, the car started shaking violently. It didn't feel like a flat tire, maybe a tire about to come off.
I got out of the car and looked around. Everything seemed fine, but I called my host to consult. He told me that he knew about this "death wobble" and that it would be okay. I could continue on and ignore the wobble.
My host also told me that he would call Turo and cancel the trip, but I could keep on using the car.
We tried to keep the speed down to 60 because the problem crept in at about 65mph. Unfortunately, every time we hit a bump or went around a bend, it would start again and I had to bring the car back down to 35 mph (on the freeway) to get it under control.
We determined there was no way we were going outside of cell range with an impending storm in this jeep, so we turned around and abandoned one of our primary reasons for this trip.
We found things to do in town since we had a car, and it seemed safe at low speeds. Not what we hoped for on this trip, but we went with that whole lemon/lemonade mindset.
When our host came to.pick up the car, I asked what was happening with the charge. He looked at me as if he was confused and denied that he said he would cancel it. He told me that he doesnt have the authority to cancel my trip and that I needed to do that. (He also said that I should call Turo and he would back up my version of events).
Total B.S.! He was on speakerphone when he told me that he would cancel the car. My wife heard exactly what he said. We are honest people, and giving up our self respect to rip off a guy thats hustling to make a living is not our style. We would never try to cheat to get ahead, it's just not within our value system.
I called Turo to try to straighten this out and they said they would contact the host and get back to me. I have heard nothing back from them and the charge remains on my credit card.
This was an unsafe car from a dishonest host, and as of now,I have a low confidence that Turo will have my back on this. I will update my post if this changes.
Horrible guest! I made it very clear that if you felt unsafe in the vehicle YOU needed to call in and cancel YOUR trip. You can not drive a vehicle if a trip is "cancelled". You continued using the vehicle for 2 days. If there was a problem, I told you call turo and they can switch you out to another vehicle. VERY SIMPLE! This is a retaliation review as you even mentioned you would "change your post" if you got a refund from turo.
