Three things to realize BEFORE renting any vehicle from Turo in Kauai and Hawaii as a whole (that you likely won't find out until you've committed to the rental): 1) You won't be allowed to take the vehicle "off-road" which includes dirt roads to certain beaches, even if it's a four-wheel drive. This is monitored with a tracking device. Most commercial rental companies have the same policy but it's likely not as enforced as it is on the turo platform. 2) You will have to take a shuttle from the airport to a parking lot about 15 minutes away in Lihue. This will be disclosed early on in the process, but it takes longer than you would expect. If you arrive after 5 p.m., Turo is only running one shuttle and you may not get to your car for more than an hour. The shuttle is turo operated, so I do not have the shuttle drivers #. 3) You will also be required to vacuum out the vehicle before returning it, which will be communicated until 24-48 hour mark towards the end of the rental. This is standard norm for the turo platform and is enforced widely in the state of Hawaii especially with the crazy beaches here. Please do plan accordingly and keep in mind that ubers are hard to come by in Lihue, so you will likely rely on the shuttle that may or may not come right away. Aloha! Airport Dropoff - To support the cost of the shuttle and Kukui Grove Center parking lot, each guest will be charged a fee when booking the vehicle with an LIH delivery (charged by turo themself not the host) The first LIH shuttle pickup will be at 7 am, with the last Kukui Grove Center pickup at 10:45 pm. At the airport, the shuttle will pick up from the shuttle, bus, and taxi area outside of baggage claim B. To get to there, guests will go to baggage claim B, turn right and walk 10 yards. To help make sure only Turo guests ride the shuttle, everyone will be asked to show the shuttle driver their Turo reservation before boarding. Primary Drivers of the booked trip should pick up the vehicle and return back to the airport to pickup the rest of the group for basic courtesy and saving seats on the shuttle. Hotel Delivery - Provide me with the full name of the individual checking in to the hotel for you. You will have to be a guest at the Hotel!
