Our arrival flight in LA was delayed 90 minutes which meant our connecting flight in honolulu was missed and we were delayed another 3 hours. Michael was very understanding and rolled with the delays. Michael picked us up in the airport and took us to 'his' pickup/dropoff location, 3 miles from the airport. However, we were charged about $50 for airport access. Uber was only costing $8 to go the 3 miles.
I drive a 2025 Tesla Model 3. I know their quirks and issues.
Both front tires are shot on this car. You could see the nylon belts where the rubber was chipped out on both front tires. There were dings in the sidewalls of 2 tires, but they were cosmetic. Tesla tires are ridiculously expensive, so I understand getting the most bang for your buck. I sent Michael pics, but he didn't come to look at it. It was a concern the entire 8 days that something could puncture the tires and then would be at the mercy of the Hawaiian Road side services. Not my idea to make a relaxing vacation in Hawaii.
All the other amenities other people listed in the other Turo reviews were true for our trip.
Because of the poor pickup/drop off procedure, we couldn't charge the car fully and were billed another $25+ for the car being undercharged upon return. Had the pickup/drop off location been in the airport, we could have slowly charged the car in the airport.
Finally, the day we were leaving I messaged Michael through Turo and a second time on his cell phone an hour before we were to return the car. Michael never returned the messages. When he arrived at the airport, he didn't even know I had messaged him either time. Trying to drop off the car 3 miles away while checking in at the airport turned into a stressful exchange, partly due to Michael talking to another person who was renting his other Tesla, and we were waiting at the pickup/dropoff location for him to finish and take us to the airport.
Charging a Tesla on Kona is a nightmare. Michael warned us that charging is nothing like on the mainland. He provided a 120V charging cable, but our accommodations didn't have a place to charge overnight. We ended up driving to locations to charge 5 times in 8 days. 'Supercharging' takes about an hour. There was always a line to charge regardless of the time of day or night.
At Walmart, we went back to back days to charge and parked next to a vehicle that had been charging for 24 hours and only was at 79%. Kona does not support Tesla very well. As time goes on hopefully Kailua Kona will support Tesla better.
Being able to pickup and leave the car charging at the airport would be helpful, especially when we were charged $50 for airport access. If there is a way to decline the prepaid airport charge, do it. It was prepaid, so I approved it, thinking the car would be in the airport parking lot when we arrived. If delays happen, there would be no need to contact the owner.
I have rented 4 or 5 other Turo cars. All gas powered and never had a problem or had to meet the owners to explain the vehicle and add the vehicle to the Tesla App.

I'm sorry you saw the personal service as an annoyance. Most people really appreciate the opportunity to ask questions. I assume the "3 miles" in your review was a typo. After picking you up from your terminal I took you a 3 minute drive across the street
Regarding the fees you mention, those are all from the airport itself. I did not charge a delivery fee and we avoided parking fees
Character limit doesn't allow me to address the rest of your concerns but they're pretty detached from reality
Would absolutely rent from Michael again! The car was fantastic and was super fun to drive. I would tell anyone that is wanting to rent that if you have a place to charge over night- it makes it MUCH easier.
That being said- Michael was VERY helpful with our questions and helping us locate the best places to charge!
