Car was functional and worked well for our commute to and from the US open. The car is very used and cosmetically unappealing, but drove totally fine and has good gas mileage. Jonele was very nice. I didn’t love the pick up and drop off process. When I booked the car, it said we could pick up and drop the car off at JFK which I thought was great. But then After booking, it turned out we were supposed to drive the owner to and from their place by the airport. When I saw this I asked to cancel the trip, but he said he’d bring the car for us to JFK. I thought that meant he would park it for us nearby. But it turned out he still wanted us to drive him home. Then we picked him up from his place on the way back and he took us to the airport. His place was about 10 min from the airport in a not very nice part of town, which made me nervous because we were traveling with our son. It was a bit inconvenient, especially waiting for him to take us to the airport when we have a flight to catch. I do feel bad, because he was very nice. I do wish the car was a little cleaner. There was some staining and dirt under the drive seat. I couldn’t tell if it was mold or carpet powder used for cleaning, but it was kinda gross either way. This was my first time using Turo, so I’m not sure if these types of pick ups/drops offs are normal and if the wear and tear of renting a car like this is normal. So, I’m not sure I would use Turo again, but it was half the price of a normal rental. I guess you get what you pay for! If you’re a solo traveler with low budget and low expectations then this car will be fine for you. But if you expect a rental car experience, then just pay for the rental car.
