The car was great! I drive a Tesla Model Y as my personal car back home, so it was nice having something familiar while exploring an unfamiliar place.
Fernando was a fantastic host and made the whole experience easy. If you’re not familiar with driving a Tesla, I’d recommend either becoming familiar with one beforehand or considering a different vehicle. But if you already know Teslas, I’d say rent it all day.
The Model Y was perfect for exploring the national parks and surrounding areas. There are conveniently located Superchargers in the different towns, which made charging easy and took a lot of the stress out of traveling around.
Overall, 10/10 experience. I would absolutely recommend renting from Fernando and would definitely rent from her again!

While the host was initially friendly and responsive to questions, the vehicle itself needs attention. The tire pressure warning light was on for the duration of the trip, and the suspension felt worn—prompting me to visit two separate shops during my 72-hour rental to ensure the vehicle was safe to drive. The other shop visit was to pay to have a windshield rock chip professionally filled.
The primary issue was a total lack of orientation or instructions for operating a Tesla, combined with a drastic shift in customer service when an emergency occurred. When I accidentally locked my phone, wallet and keycard inside the vehicle at night, the host became unsupportive and placed blame on me rather than helping. He also remotely unlocked the car with all my valuables inside without checking if I was actually at the vehicle first.
I ended up stranded, had to walk alone at night, and relied on truck stop staff for safety. If you rent this vehicle, ensure you are already fully literate in Tesla operations, carry full insurance and backup plans, and are prepared to handle emergencies on your own.

I would suggest not renting a Tesla next time if you do not know how to operate a higher tech vehicle. Yes, the rock chip that you caused is your responsibility to get it fixed or filled. And after you locked yourself out of the car and came to my personal home, left me a note stating you would be there, I then unlocked the car. You then wanted to abandon my car at a truck stop because you were upset with your mistakes, which I declined because once again, you are responsible for the vehicle.
Very accommodating host to make things work!
