The car was amazing! A nice smooth drive, I really appreciate the host being so accommodating while I extended my trip a few times. I will definitely be back thanks again.

I came to Houston for a funeral and unfortunately had a terrible experience.

This host claimed I tampered with a tire we noticed with low tread midway through our trip, despite reporting it immediately with photos and not adding any mileage to the car once we discovered the issue. The host alleges that we caused damage to the original tire and driver side of the vehicle, and then that we swapped the tire to cover it up. This logic makes no sense. After investigating, Turo determined we were not at fault and the claim was dropped. Aside from my character being questioned, this vehicle put my wife and daughter at risk while we were trying to grieve the loss of a loved one. The host should have noticed this tire beforehand. What makes me question the host is they messaged me separately outside of Turo before the trip, saying that another renter wanted to extend their trip using the Tucson and asking us to switch or rental to another vehicle, including a 2016 Volvo and a 2024 Honda Accord. I’m not sure if this is allowed in Turo’s policies, but it makes me wonder if the host knew about the issues with the car and that’s why they wanted us to change vehicles.

Additionally, I checked the photos submitted by the host on the damage report and found inconsistencies. For example, the before and after photos both contain the logo of the the damaged tire I reported, but the host also tried to put different photos in the damage report to make it seem like we weren’t telling the truth. However, in the photos of the car parked in the location where we picked it up, you can clearly see the Pirelli logo, which is the tire we discovered low tread. The host alleged that it was another brand and that we swapped the original brand with a Pirelli, but their own photos proved otherwise. They also accused us over chat of lying about what happened to the car. I bought the maximum insurance policy through Turo for this very reason. Please be CAREFUL if you work with this host. This is also a huge lesson to EVERYONE to check tire tread beforehand when you inspect a vehicle.

I believe that the damage occurred prior to our trip with either another renter or the host themselves, and they tried to blame us to get us to pay for it. I will never use Turo again after this incident, but I have to commend their resolution team for finding the truth and not falsely charging us.
