The owner was genuinely kind and helpful throughout, and I appreciated how responsive they were.
Unfortunately, the car itself wasn't ready to go. The engine was overheating and it turned out that the coolant tank had a leak and the oil was very low among other things I found out a couple days after having the car (the owner was not aware of the leak and was apologetic).
Because of a tight schedule and a lot of driving planned, swapping vehicles wasn't an option, so I took it to an auto shop myself and then started to topped up the coolant before every day I drove.
It all worked out, but the car didn't feel prepared for a new renter, and I ended up spending my time and money to make it safe to drive.
I don’t see how I should be charged full price for this trip since so much was added to my plate and it was a lack of safety concern.
