I was hesitant to rent with the host when I saw multiple last minute cancellations and should have trusted my first instinct. I sent the host my pre-trip documents for review over 18 hours before the trip started, and had to send the host several messages to remind him to approve them. He finally did less than an hour before the trip, overall poor communication and I found the amount of hand-holding required to get the documents approved rather strange. Car had leftover items from the previous passenger (MadLibs book in between the seats, baby monitor under another seat). The host claimed I returned the car on 7/8th tank full of gas, even though both my photos and his photos on check in showed a full tank. I have no issue paying an invoice for a legitimate charge, but he wasn’t willing to reverse the charge when I messaged him about the discrepancy, so I had to escalate it to Turo customer support. Fortunately it was reversed on their end but the host is either dishonest or there is something mechanically wrong with the gas tank/vehicle which the host won’t address. Either way, this was my worst rental experience on Turo by far. Avoid the aggravation and look for a different host.
Hi, sorry you didn’t have a great experience, it seems like you are upset at the fact that the car was not brought back full, and you were charged for it. Turo actually was escalated to the trip and we were paid for the gas. We never had such a big deal with a gas reimbursement, but we think it’s unfair to lie about everything else just because you were upset at the fact of one thing. Thanks
