The host was nice formed me that the engine light was on because the gas cap but I am almost positive the transmission or engine are going. It was loud as if I was driving in neutral. The car itself was very nice minus the maintenance

There is no concern with the engine or transmission.
The noise you are mentioning is likely heard when the car is stopped and the coolant fan is running, and you’re right, sometimes it sounds a little louder than you expect. Again, this vehicle along with all of my others are maintain
