There were a couple of minor issues with the vehicle that were disclosed to us, we had no issues during the trip. Tye vehicle was excellent on gas and was great getting us where we needed to go. I will definitely be hitting up Turo again for future trips! 🙂

As a first-time renter through Turo, my experience wasn’t so great.
When I picked up the car, as soon as I started it, I immediately noticed how loud it was. I called the owner right away to make sure the vehicle was safe to travel long distance, and she informed me it had been driven by others long distance with no issues. She also stated the engine had been replaced last July and that it has an aftermarket muffler, which explains the noise. The tire pressure light was already on at pickup, and the owner stated she “forgot to go put air in it.”
My trip was within hours, and I was scheduled to leave at 5 AM the following morning, so it was impossible for me to find another option on such short notice.
There were also issues with the key fob it gets stuck and doesn’t pop out properly. I had to use my nail to dig it out, which was inconvenient and frustrating.
Two days later, while I was 8 hours away from home, I filled the tank again. Just hours later, while driving, the fuel gauge randomly dropped. I immediately contacted the owner, and when I first called her about the fuel gauge, she told me to “keep a mental note” of the gas hand. That was neither helpful nor appropriate given the situation.
While she does respond quickly via text and stayed in communication that evening, she still seemed dismissive regarding the seriousness of the issue and mentioned she prefers to communicate by text to be more effective.
At that point, I was extremely worried being that far from home with my two children in the back seat. Moments later, the check engine light came on, and that was the breaking point for me.
The owner then mentioned she was already aware of the fuel gauge issue and thought it would “fix itself,” but would take it to her mechanic once he returned from vacation and also stated the car may need an O2 sensor none of which was disclosed to me prior to the trip.
When I informed her of the tire pressure light being on again ,she asked if I could go to Discount Tire to have a tire plugged, which was not part of my plans. This is exactly why I chose to rent a vehicle—to avoid dealing with maintenance issues during my trip.
Overall, there were multiple undisclosed issues: loud engine/muffler, tire pressure warning, faulty gas gauge, check engine light, and a defective key fob. Being told to “take a mental note” of the gas issue was unprofessional and dismissive.
This experience was stressful and unsafe, and I would strongly not recommend this vehicle until all the mechanical problems are fixed and inspected properly.
She did send pictures of the new engine and provided a full refund as promised, which I do appreciate.

Concerns were addressed in good faith—no mishandling, rather differences in preference/understanding. Fully serviced, 4 new tires, can verify upon booking. All concerns reviewed and met Turo standards. Minor wear consistent with age. One experience doesn’t reflect overall consistent service.
