Jose’s car was perfect for my trip! Pick up and drop off went seamlessly and his communication was excellent the entire trip. The location of the car was conveniently located next to a gas station to fill up for drop off. I will rent from him again for my next visit!

I had mixed reviews about the car pick up/drop off which is why I am giving 3/5 stars. It was almost canceled when we arrived to pick up the car (host no show). Jose was great with communication a few weeks/days leading up to the trip. Very accommodating and extremely helpful, so 5/5 for that. But as Sunday 12 pm arrived (car pick up time), he did not respond for 2 hours leading up to it. Turo gives a 30-minute grace period for the host to “deliver the car” but afterward, it would automatically be canceled. We arrived around 11:56 am at the car location, saw the Toyota Rav 4 in its spot, but Jose never sent us the code to access the keys in their lockbox. I immediately messaged him in the app (no response), texted his number (no response), called his cell (automated voice message for his car company, and still no response). This was on a Sunday at noon, so the car dealership’s front door was closed. I called their company number and an external operator picked up. I asked the kind lady to leave a message stating that his Turo car rental is here and cannot access the car. I am extremely frustrated at this point because we have been waiting for 25 min, under direct sunlight, close to 100 F heat, with all local businesses closed. I called Turo customer service and explained the situation. The representative informed me that if he does not respond by 12:30 pm, after the 30 min grace period, then Jose is considered a no-show and will be refunded. …Well great…I had no Plan B, and we needed a car immediately to drive my wife to the airport since she was leaving at a separate time. Turo representatives tried to contact him, and he did not respond to them either. Exactly 28 minutes after (no joke, 2 more minutes and he would have lost money) he called me and told us the code. He claimed that he had sent it to my wife in the Turo app, but we did not receive anything and have proof of no communication from him. He did not even apologize over the phone, nor apologize as a follow-up message afterward. Meanwhile, I had been trying to contact him since 10 am that day to figure out how to pick up the car/what we should do. The only reason why I even had a clue that something was wrong was that I had rented from a Super-host the week prior. She was very on top of her client communication and sent us an extremely long message about the check-in process/details/logistics. We had none of that with Jose. The car itself was all right, cannot complain too much on that end because it was as advertised. The only thing is that Jose said the car was sanitized but it definitely was not clean when we arrived. I did not care too much about the outside being covered in bird poop/pollen because there was a hail/rainstorm that evening and washed it all away. However, the inside was not fully cleaned. I have no idea whether it was even cleaned as claimed. There were dirt spots on one passenger seat, but we just did not sit there, so whatever. Just make sure to take a lot of pictures when you pick up the car. Every single scratch/blemish/dent should be documented. We spent about 15 minutes doing that because there were a lot of damages by previous handlers that we did not want to be charged for. The other problem that I had was with the checkout. Once again, Jose was unresponsive when we returned the car. I greatly appreciated the fact that he let us return the car 3 days early but still, the lack of communication was annoying. I did not know whether he wanted the keys to be left in the lockbox or given to his receptionist at the car dealership (as it might have been implied by a previous message). He did not respond to my inquiries and just left us on “read” a few hours after we had already left. To this day, there is no follow-up and no apology. Overall, I would still recommend renting from Jose because the price is good for a 2021 car. It is just far away from the Denver airport and annoying to get to if you do not get Uber/Lyft. But be prepared for poor/delayed communication and make sure to have a Plan B if you or Turo must cancel the reservation. Hopefully, you do not run into the same issues as we did. Good luck.
