The host did not disclose that the driver's seat was not able to be adjusted forward before I picked up the rental he just stated the car was ready. Once I arrived to pick up the vehicle I noticed I was unable to properly adjust the seat to safely reach the gas and brake pedals. I am barely 5 foot 3. I attempted to reach out to the host several times before I drove the car to see if he was aware that the seat did not adjust and if there was a way to fix it. I received no response. I contacted Turo support to cancel the rental and find another car but there were no cars available in the time frame and budget I needed. So I attempted to drive the car even though it was difficult to reach the pedals. I did not have anything with me that I could use to support my back when I picked up the car as I was unaware I would need anything. I have preexisting chronic back and sciatic nerve pain that I am currently under medical care for, which was severely aggravated by attempting to drive this vehicle. I did not receive a response from the host until the next morning (from my original message at 7pm the previous day) in which he stated that the he had been on a plane and that the previous renter must have broken the seat and not said anything. However there is a review that was posted after I picked up the vehicle from the previous renter that states he was aware that the drivers seat was broken and gave them a discount because of it. I would have appreciated honesty, transparency and better communication regarding the broken seat. Turo customer support also attempted to reach the host several times and was unable to. I did not feel safe continuing to try and drive the car. Not being able to properly reach the gas and brake pedals felt very unsafe and it was causing me severe back and leg pain to continue to try and do so. Turo advised that due to safety concerns I could do an alternate return location. They reached out to the host to explain the need for the alternate return location but did not receive a response. After I returned the vehicle to the alternate location the host immediately responded to me saying he did not understand why I drop the car off where I did after I drove the car. Even though customer service attempted to contact him prior to me returning the car to explain my concerns with my ability to continue safely operating the vehicle. I returned the car clean and secure and with the gas tank filled back to a half of a tank like it was when I picked it up. If I had an option to get another rental I would have. If I felt I could safely return the vehicle to its original pick up location or had someone who could have done it for me I would have. I did not ask for a discount because I did use the car (even though the customer review states he gave the previous renters a discount for the same issue that he blamed them for causing. )I attempted to drive the car because I needed transportation and didn't have another option. It was a very uncomfortable driving experience, it felt unsafe and the customer service experience was terrible. If you are taller, then driving this car may not be an issue. But anyone under 5 foot 5 may struggle without some short of back support. Overall my main issue is the lack of communication, transparency and honesty. Had I known ahead of time I may have had adequate time to find another rental or at least locate some sort of lumbar support to bring along with me to help me reach the pedals. I also advise future renters to document all communication just in case the host decides to be less than honest.
