FIAT 500X

It was not a positive experience when it came to the vehicle or the host. I made my reservation around 9 PM to pick up around midnight. The host confirmed my rental would only be around 12 hours. My flight was delayed and I land in SBA until around 3:30 AM.
I couldn’t find the keys anywhere. The instructions stated the host would hand the keys over to the renter. This was shocking, confusing, and frustrating, because the host knew I was coming in after midnight, and messaged me that the car was available for pickup at 12:30 PM. I called him three times and messaged, no response. I was about to cancel the rental and get an uber when I discovered it was a push start. The car turned on, and I was able to drive it to my destination, but didn’t locate the keys until the next morning when I saw the host’s message letting me know they were in the glove box… WHAT?! It didn’t mention that anywhere in the instructions or messages. And he acted like he was confused that I didn’t know and I should’ve known to check the glove box. lol make that make sense.
I loathed the way the car operated… never been in a Fiat before and never will be after that. The car didn’t go in drive unless the driver’s seatbelt was buckled and the gas was very touchy/sensitive. The engine also sounded loud, like there was something wrong with it. It also struggled to gain momentum at some points and I had to pull over, turn the car off, turn it back on so it would reset or something..? This was the cheaper option for midnight pickup to one other car and from now on, I will not go with the cheaper fiat but the more expensive anything else to avoid giving this host any of my money.
Also, the requirements stated the car needed to be dropped off with a full tank of gas but I picked it up with it only 7/8 full, so I dropped it off with the same amount because nope, not playing those games.

We loved our fire engine red, Fiat 500X! The car was fun to enjoy around the Santa Barbara area, easy to park, sunroof open, will definitely rent again next time!

Erik and Turo absolutely redeemed our family vacation that was off to a very want to go home/ pain-in-the-ass start largely due to rental car companies that make it so impossible and are so miserable to work with. ERIK IS A KIND SOUL in the beautiful craziness of California and we couldn’t appreciate him being our first experience with Turo more… Turo is the only way we’ll go from now on when traveling.
