Overall it was a smooth rental but we did have two issues. It smelled strongly of smoke the whole trip which was unpleasant. Also, although it was a smooth pick up and drop off, I did not feel it was a safe process leaving the key on the tire, especially since the car would not lock leaving it there. Most turo vehicles have a lockbox and the notes said this car would have a lockbox but it did not. Perhaps the owner can come up with a better pick up and drop off solution and ozonate the vehicle as it did not smell like an occasional smoker used it but rather a frequent smoker.
The keys must be placed in a specific case—one that Turo has specifically recommended and approved. This case effectively blocks the key's signal, operating on the principle of a Faraday cage. You simply did not place the key inside carefully enough, or you failed to close the case securely; consequently, the key's signal remained accessible. Regarding the tobacco odor, I have already apologized and explained that, unfortunately, hosts cannot fully control their guests, and some guests do smoke

Loved the car- communication with the host was an issue for drop off. Otherwise, it went well.
You received the instructions for drop-off and pick-up back on the very first day, before your trip even began. The Host is in no way to blame for the fact—as you yourself admitted—that you simply failed to notice them. Giving a 3-star rating solely due to your own inattention is hardly fair. Furthermore, if you need to return the car earlier than planned, please be sure to let us know a little in advance, rather than waiting until the very last minute.
