Bad experience with unresponsive and unavailable host. Car was advertised as 4 miles from airport but was actually 8 miles and a 20 minute drive so very expensive with a Lyft. When I arrived there was only a “representative” instead of the host who knew very little about turo and couldn’t help me.
Car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I asked rep if there was another vehicle available but there was not. Rep said they can’t control what others do in the car (whaaaaaat? Car should be cleaned in between guests and everyone has a nose so this should have been addressed with the cleaner). I never did communicate directly with the host, just the rep. Rep told me host said to contact turo if I wanted to cancel the car and he couldn’t help me with it.
I contacted turo and after an hour they agreed to cancel my reservation and help me find another car. Unfortunately they ended the chat before getting another car and despite repeated requests to initiate another chat I was unable to get ahold of them. I tried to find another car myself but because I was so far away from everything there wasn’t anything available for me within my time frame.
I was headed to a wedding and ultimately had to keep this car for use so I wouldn’t miss it. I showed up smelling like cigarette smoke and drove the entire trip with the windows down to deal with the smell even though it snowed during my trip.
