This was by far the worst rental experience I’ve had.
The vehicle was advertised as a hybrid, but the hybrid battery was completely nonfunctional due to poor maintenance. Instead of the advertised 45 MPG, the car averaged only about 22 MPG. We paid roughly $100 more specifically to rent a hybrid, so this was a significant misrepresentation.
When I raised the issue at pickup, I was dismissed and told I could either cancel the reservation or return later so they could charge the battery. After asking a few reasonable questions, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. They eventually agreed to charge the battery, saying it would take 45 minutes. It actually took over 2.5 hours, and even then it wasn’t fully charged. The battery functioned for only about 30 minutes before the vehicle reverted to operating solely on gas.
The lengthy delay ruined our first day of vacation and forced us to reschedule our plans to the last day of our trip. Because of that, I returned the vehicle later than planned. Despite having already paid for the entire rental day, they threatened to charge me additional fees. Given the circumstances, I would have expected some accommodation rather than additional charges.
To make matters worse, the vehicle was dirty when we picked it up and appeared not to have been cleaned after the previous renter. Communication was also frustrating, as the host would not speak with me directly and instead had a friend handle all interactions.
I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that mistakes happen. However, this experience involved inaccurate advertising, poor customer service, an unclean vehicle, and no effort to make things right. I cannot recommend renting from this host.

This vehicle is a PLUG-in hybrid, and fuel economy depends on charging habits, and not somerthing that we control. While I often provide a full charge as a courtesy it is not a rental requirement. In this case, the previous trip ended the same morning, I could not charge hence offered reimbursement
I also approved an extension of trip and simply explained the Turo’s standard late-return policy.
