I returned this vehicle after approximately 45 minutes because I did not feel it was safe to drive.
Before I had even left the immediate area, I noticed multiple warning indicators and safety-related issues, including a non-functioning left front daytime running light, a left turn signal warning, and a service safety restraint warning indicating a potential issue with the vehicle’s restraint system. Rather than continue driving, I stopped to document the condition of the vehicle and then returned it.
Instead of acknowledging or addressing these concerns, the host focused on the short distance I had driven while assessing the vehicle and threatened to charge me for fuel. I found that response concerning, especially given that I was documenting issues that existed before my trip—not creating them.
Reporting safety concerns is part of a responsible vehicle inspection, not complaining. When a renter has prepaid for a vehicle and is immediately presented with multiple safety warnings on a car they have never driven, it’s reasonable to stop driving and report those issues.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend renting from this host. Vehicle safety should be the highest priority, and I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously.
