I rented this car for one month and regretted it the same day I picked it up. Very poorly maintained: screeching brakes, a mechanical issue (transmission?), and it was dirty. Then a few days later, the maintenance light came on. I had planned to take this car roundtrip to Mt. Baker. I took the car to BMW service and asked them to informally inspect it, to which they said “well, it might get you there, but probably not much further”. They then pointed out how lower-quality parts had been added to the car, including wheel parts and the windshield, and additionally suggested the windshield cracks be examined ahead of a trip with considerable temperature fluctuation. Needless to say, I did not feel safe with this car. I did not take the trip with this car. The car was largely in my garage except for the occasional errands I used it for. Turo offered a replacement, but it was difficult to find a BMW SUV available for the month; I made a habit of checking! In the last week of the reservation, I finally found a different BMW SUV from a different host. It was an immediate relief when I picked that car up as it was well-cared for, and all around wonderful experience. The contrast was night and day between both reservations. As for the hosts, for the cleaning issue (which was the first and most basic of the issues I brought up), the host’s response was “you can shorten the trip” (rather than simply offering to clean?!). Near-zero disposition (after a lot of pestering however, they finally agreed to clean the car. Even then, I had to take pictures to show them WHAT to clean. I guess the brown/coffee splatter on the sunroof was not immediately evident).

We take cleanliness and maintenance seriously. When you raised concerns, we offered you the option not to proceed with the trip, personally came to clean the vehicle again, and arranged a mechanical inspection after your trip, which did not identify any issues. We made multiple efforts to address your concerns and are sorry the experience did not meet your expectations.

I completely enjoyed this vehicle. It’s a really smooth ride and the lumbar support is unbelievable. Great ride to use for a road trip. Also, the vehicle was ready in advance. The owner was very responsive and communicated the specifications of the rental clearly. Easy pick up and easy drop off. I would definitely rent this vehicle again if the occasion calls for it. I never rented from Turo before this. No long lines like a rental company. Not a lot of unnecessary conversation. I think I prefer renting a vehicle using this app as opposed to using any other.
