We had a great overall trip with this Volkswagen Atlas, but a recurring technical issue kept it from being a flawless 5-star experience.
On the positive side, the logistics were absolutely perfect. The co-hosts were highly cooperative, incredibly prompt in responding to all of our messages, and made the entire pickup and drop-off process completely hassle-free. The vehicle performed beautifully, running smoothly and handling the road with ease. It offers plenty of spacious cabin comfort, making every drive a true delight.
However, we hit a significant inconvenience during our drive: the car’s infotainment software kept randomly restarting while we were on the road. This meant we were repeatedly losing our Apple CarPlay navigation mid-drive. To make matters worse, we were driving through areas in Yellowstone where there is absolutely no network coverage. Losing our maps (downloaded for offline availability) in a complete dead-zone was extremely inconvenient and frustrating. I suspect a standard VW dealership software/firmware update would easily fix this bug, but it definitely impacted our overall experience.
Aside from that software glitch, it is a stellar vehicle backed by an excellent team. Once the infotainment system is patched and stable, I would highly recommend this rental to anyone.
