This was the worst rental experience with Turo that I’ve ever had. It used to be that Turo was people renting their personal cars and gave a shit about the cars they were renting and their customer’s experience. Now you have these companies like LA Auto who buy a bunch of cars and rent them on Turo and don’t give a shit about their customer’s experience. To start with they dropped the car off late leaving me standing in a parking lot in Denver on a 94 degree day. When I got to the car the first thing I noticed is that it was filthy on the outside. It was as if someone sprayed it with a hose and left it in the sun to dry. It was completely covered in dirty water spots including the windshield. Then I noticed that there was a temporary license plate from Ohio that was expired. I contacted the the host LA Auto and they said that the registration was valid but they forgot to put the updated plate on the car and that if I get pulled over I can look up the registration info on the Turo app to show the cop. Well isn’t that just great. When I got in the car it had a funky smell. I then noticed that the windshield was covered with smear marks on the inside like dog slobber or something and I could barely see out of it with the sun shining on it so I had to clean it with a towel I packed in order to be able to see out of it clearly to drive it. Just what you wanna have to do when you pick up a rental after a long flight, clean the wind shield with your towel. As I’m cleaning the windshield I notice that there’s a big crack about 3 inches wide where a rock had hit it right in the view of the driver. Then I had to drive it to a car wash on my way to my hotel so I wouldn’t be picking up my colleagues the next morning in a dirty car. The next morning when I get in the car and put my coffee in the cup holder, I see a marijuana vape cartridge in it. ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME?!?! Now I know why the car had a funky smell. So not only am I driving around in a car with expired plates and could very well get pulled over but if I do get pulled over I could get arrested for having drugs in the car! This is unbelievable and completely unacceptable!!! I messaged the host about it and they just apologized and asked me to send them a picture. I had to message them a handful of times about all these things and every time I got a response from someone different. Never rent from this company. They don’t care about their customers experience, they don’t know how to take care of their cars and they could get you put in jail!

Car had exterior damage, crack in the windshield and expired tags. While I understand things happen; I would have appreciated notice at booking to I could choose to keep or cancel the booking. The co-host was very kind and responded immediately.

Overall I’m happy with the trip! However, the X5 had an expired out of state temporary plate. This attracts unwanted attention and will get you a parking ticket in some places.
It also had a damaged windshield and a broken parking sensor that was constantly beeping. Otherwise everything was great.
