I have used Turo for many years, and this was by far the most disappointing experience I’ve had with a host.

After I submitted my driver’s license for verification, the host repeatedly warned me on three separate occasions not to smoke in the vehicle. While I fully understand and respect a host’s no-smoking policy, what concerned me was being told that if I smoked, he would use a “kill switch” to completely disable the Tesla, leaving me and my family stranded and forcing us to find our own way home. I found that statement inappropriate and concerning enough that I immediately contacted Turo Customer Support to report it.

I rented the vehicle for 10 days. During that time, the host contacted me through the Turo messaging system on approximately five different occasions with questions and comments that felt unnecessary and intrusive, including asking what I was doing, whether I ever slept, and other personal remarks that had nothing to do with the rental. Before the trip began, I had already explained that I was traveling to attend my grandparent’s funeral, so I expected a greater level of professionalism and respect.

Based on my experience, I would encourage future renters to use caution. In my opinion, the host’s communication style created unnecessary stress throughout the rental, and I felt he was looking for opportunities to charge additional fees rather than simply ensuring the trip went smoothly.

That said, I want to be fair and separate my experience with the host from my experience with the vehicle.

The 2026 Tesla Model Y itself was outstanding. It was clean, comfortable, and performed exceptionally well on our road trip from New Mexico to Michigan. Full Self-Driving exceeded my expectations and made long-distance driving much less tiring. The vehicle handled highway driving confidently, and its safety features were especially impressive. It consistently recognized pedestrians and animals and reacted appropriately when they entered or approached the roadway.

As someone who has been passionate about vehicles since 2009, I was genuinely excited to experience the newest Model Y. More importantly, I wanted my family—especially my nonverbal daughter—to enjoy the trip. I knew she would love the panoramic glass roof because she enjoys looking at the sky and scenery, and it turned out to be one of her favorite parts of the journey. Seeing her enjoy the drive made the trip memorable despite the issues I experienced with the host.

The vehicle deserves five stars. Unfortunately, my experience with the host does not.

The car was almost brand new and clean throughout. It was waiting for us in the airport parking lot when we arrived and Mr Reliable was waiting for us at departures when we returned it. The whole process was very smooth.

Great smooth process. Would recommend renting from Kinsley for any of the vehicles in his fleet.

The host was outstanding—communication was fast, clear, and genuinely friendly from start to finish, which made the entire process smooth and stress-free. The car itself was absolutely beautiful, well-maintained, and exactly as described. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommended!
