Omg this has by far been one of the absolute worst experiences for me. I wanted to book something big enough for my family and I to travel for my birthday and Memorial Day weekend, but unfortunately things went completely left.
The host was extremely responsive up until I had to return the vehicle the SAME DAY due to serious safety concerns. The tires were completely bald with threads exposed, and there was also a warning alert on the dashboard stating to “Check Brake Pad System.” As a wife and mother, there was absolutely no way I could risk traveling with my family in those conditions.
Once I got inside the vehicle, I also noticed the interior was not properly cleaned. The cup holders were filthy, the seats had stains, and there were personal items still left in the side door compartments. Yes, the vehicle was vacuumed and had a full tank of gas, but cleanliness and safety should BOTH matter when people are paying their hard-earned money.
I immediately contacted the host out of concern not only for my safety, but for hers as well. I requested a full refund, and I was instructed to return the vehicle and contact Turo. I did exactly that, but the process became an absolute nightmare.
Because the host stopped responding not only to me, but also to FOUR different Turo representatives my refund could not be processed. I spent TWO DAYS fighting this situation, being transferred back and forth between EIGHT different representatives while stranded without a vehicle during a holiday weekend.
At this point, I’m frustrated, disappointed, and heartbroken because this completely ruined my birthday trip. 😭
My advice to hosts: please take pride in your vehicles. Don’t just do this for the money. Treat it as if you were putting your own family into that vehicle. Safety should NEVER be compromised.
The vehicle was thoroughly inspected before she drove off as well as pics updated in trip photos so I don't understand why she drove off if the tires were bald and showing threads. She also said it wasn't drivable which was also false. I responded to 2 different representatives. This guest began calling me a week before the trip and leaving multiple messages inquiring about the vehicle. She was already looking for a complaint, I don't recommend renting to her at all.
