Host arrived with the vehicle 10 mins late from our scheduled reservation time. Communication prior to our trip was non existent, I’ve rented on Turo before and normally right at booking or shortly before your trip starts the host sends you a message outlining what to expect. That didn’t happen. I ended up reaching out to the host as we were boarding our flight to confirm we had a vehicle upon our arrival. I ended up hearing back just as we almost landed. Overall the cars cleanliness was disappointing. You could tell from the beginning that this was their personal family car and they rushed to clean it before the rental. They did mention to us at pickup that we were there first trip, so that could have played a part in our experience. During our trip we did get into a minor incident while the car was parked and someone pulling out of the hotel unloading zone scraped the passenger rear door. I follow Turo’s protocol on reporting it and reached out the host to let them know. I didn’t hear back from them for over 24 hours. We had the same experience trying to drop it off, no clear communication. We received a message from Turo explaining where to drop the car off at PDX and it gave us 3 parking garage options and stated we could be fined if we didn’t return it there. I reached out to the host to confirm drop off and they stated they wanted to do a hand off in person. We agreed and about 30 mins before the drop off time I receive a message from the host that plans were changing again and to drop it off in the parking garage. My suggestion for the host if they’re planning on continuing to host their car on Turo, first get the car professionally detailed. Lastly create a plan on pick up and drop off and set clear communication for your guests. It will make the experience much better.
