The car was functional and Melik was responsive to messages. When the interior arrived unclean — sticky and needing vacuuming — he Zelled me $30 to cover the car wash after I sent him the receipt, which I appreciated. However, this caused us to be late picking up a guest from the airport. Second, the alarm system was faulty — it went off loudly both when using the manual key and when using the remote buttons, at 11:00 PM and again at 5:00 AM, disturbing our neighbors. We were never informed about this issue or given any instructions on how to handle it. One of our drivers, who owns the same model minivan, believes the key remote was malfunctioning. Third, at drop-off I clearly told Melik the tank was at a quarter — he had every opportunity to inspect it on the spot. He later sent a $120 fuel invoice, which — with Turo's convenience and credit card processing fees — totaled $133.95 out of my pocket. I offered a reasonable compromise to address the fuel and alarm issues together, but he declined. Document everything carefully at pickup and drop-off if you rent this vehicle.
