After reading the positive reviews, I reserved this van for a long trip and provided the host with several hours’ notice before pickup so the vehicle could be prepared.

Unfortunately, after dealing with a flight delay, all we wanted was to pick up the rental and begin our trip. Instead, we were disappointed by the condition of the van.

The interior was visibly dirty. I wiped down the seats with sanitizing wipes, and they came back black from the amount of dirt. The van had not been vacuumed, and during our trip we even discovered ants inside. Later in our rental, we found a used, empty child’s milk bottle, which made it clear the vehicle had not been properly cleaned between renters.

The van was also provided with only half a tank of gas, which was an unexpected inconvenience at the start of a long trip. In addition, there were maintenance concerns, including missing windshield wipers, which should have been addressed before the vehicle was rented out.

When I brought these issues to the host’s attention, he seemed annoyed rather than concerned. The check-in instructions were also confusing, and despite being told parking was covered by the host, I still had to pay to exit the parking facility.

To make matters worse, when I asked if I could extend the rental by a few hours, I was informed the van was not insured, which was extremely concerning.

Overall, this experience fell well below expectations. Cleanliness, vehicle maintenance, proper preparation, and communication are essential when renting a vehicle, and unfortunately this rental missed the mark in all of those areas. I would not rent from this host again and would encourage future renters to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before leaving.
