This is now my second time using Turo and it has now been two completely different situations. In this instance I had to take a cab from the airport with my family of 6 to pick up the van in a sketchy area of town, whereas the host in a former instance met us at the airport. In this case, I never saw the host and he doesn’t answer his phone. The license plates were temporary and expired, but the owner told me all was well; also the vehicle’s registration expired while it was in our possession. But the biggest issue was in dealing with the host (and I am still dealing with the host) as the tires were a bit on the older side of their life, and during our travels we had issues with two of them, resulting in the need to purchase two tires simply to make it home safely from our trip, but the host and Turo have still not reimbursed us the nearly $600.00 for the two tires, despite message after message, call after call. I am out $600 because the host and Turo refuse to resolve the matter or to communicate clearly throughout the process. While my first experience with Turo was excellent, I’d have to rate this host as terrible because I am out nearly $600 providing his van two new tires because I value the safety of my family. The host told me to take the van to a tire shop, but now he or Turo—not sure which—is unwilling to take responsibility and reimburse me this cost.
