Car was as pictured. Drove fine. It was almost due for a tune up and going up Makakilo drive which is very steep was a little challenging, but she made it. The Airbnb we stayed at had a pretty steep garage turn in and due to a thunderstorm it was challenging and a little scary since it almost didn’t make it up but overall nothing crazy. Only real issue I had was that it was in the international garage and we flew into terminal 2 with 2 little ones and 2 car seats which had I known I honestly would’ve found a different car. It was an extra almost 30 minute walk trying to find the car. I asked if I could please be billed for the difference if they let me park in terminal 2 and did not receive a call back until after my trip time was over. I was really disappointed. I always try to support locals being from O’ahu myself, and the lack of communication was very upsetting. I was super flexible when they changed the vehicle from a 2025 carnival to a 2019 Sedona, even though it’s wild to me that they would be the same price. Overall the space is what you’re choosing with the van and it does have Apple car play which is nice.

Easy pick up was nice at the airport it was clean inside and out.

The car quality was good at first but leas than 30 mins of driving we noticed an issue of the engine overheating from the temperature gauge. Lift up the hood and inspected the engine coolant reservoir and it was completely empty.

I tried contacting MattV but unavailable, busy so I contacted Turo, multiple phone conversations it was a difficult experience because you have to call them back if you want updates.

We waited in the parking lot of Curry house Ichibanya from 6pm until 11:27 almost midnight until Turos roadside assistance was able to help us.

We had luggage and two babies with us didn’t have a chance to stop at the hotel first. While on the phone with Turo customer support I had to call multiple times, it was a terrible experience and ruined our first day there because Turo representatives informed me that if I am to leave the vehicle unattended I will be liable for any damages to the vehicle. It was all bad.

I’ve rented from Turo before but I think this is the last time I ever do that. I had to spend $600 more on a rental from the airport to match the vehicle I rented on Turo. If I went this route to begin with I would’ve saved $400 but I tried to save $200 and ended paying more due to needing a rental fast.

When I got into contact with MattV he let me know he was busy and just got off work roughly around 11:00 when I let him know what had happened and the issue he was more concerned about where was his vehicle going to be towed to. He did not apologize for the inconvenience instead he said “My mechanic never told me anything was wrong with the vehicle.”

I’m not sure who his mechanic is but
obviously he don’t do a good job at insuring the vehicles he maintains are in tip top shape let alone making sure the basic fluids are filled. Driving a vehicle with no engine coolant will lead to severe problems and I could’ve gotten blamed for that if I didn’t take notice and sat in a parking lot for hours to not damage his vehicle.

I recommend just renting from the airport car rentals less hassle and if the car break down they’ll exchange it for you asap.
