The car was jerking and shut off while driving on the highway. It has been poorly maintained.

Thank you for your feedback—I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I completed a 45-minute test drive prior to your trip, and everything felt normal at that time. However, I currently have the vehicle at a mechanic, and they’ve identified the thermostat as the cause of the check engine light.
