The car battery was marked 2022 (4 years ago) and was visibly in terrible shape (I uploaded pics). There was battery acid everywhere, and the terminals were corroded. We found out because it died on us 🙃 We were hoping to leave early and beat the post-Coachella traffic. Instead, I returned the car at midnight.
On a call, the host said he took the car to the shop 4 months ago for "battery issues". There's no way the shop overlooked the battery's condition. They must've asked the owner to replace the battery. Instead, he waited for it to fail on us. This is particularly annoying because Turo doesn't offer a battery replacement service. Instead, you have to replace it yourself and be reimbursed by the owner.
The host was otherwise great. I'm sorry, but I must leave a 1-star review for this negligence.
I apologize for any inconvenience the vehicle may have caused. I replaced the battery with a brand new one as soon as the vehicle returned. The battery level was 75% at the last check, and the mechanic told me it wasn't at the point where it needed to be replaced.
