I was very disappointed with this rental experience.
The main reason we chose this van was because it was advertised with roof racks. We specifically needed the extra storage space for our family’s luggage so we’d have more room inside for our kids. Before booking, I confirmed with the host that the racks would be included, and he even sent photos showing them.
When we picked up the vehicle, there were no roof racks. I immediately messaged the host, and his response was simply, “My apologies, this was all I had available.” There was no attempt to provide a solution or notify us ahead of time that the vehicle would not match the listing.
The van was also not clean when we received it. There was visible trash in the door compartments and cup holders, which gave the impression that it hadn’t been properly prepared between rentals.
To make matters worse, we received the vehicle with a driving range of 396 miles and returned it with 348 miles after refueling. Given the missing roof racks and the condition of the vehicle, we assumed the host would acknowledge the inconvenience or offer some form of compensation. Instead, we received an invoice for $27 for refueling.
Overall, the vehicle did not match what was advertised, the cleanliness was below expectations, and the customer service consisted only of repeated apologies without any effort to make the situation right. Unfortunately, I would not rent from this host again.
