THEODORE's response

The prior guest had told me over the phone the car had a low oil pressure warning and those can kill an engine but it was not an oil pressure warning, it was the engine light that can be from a loose gas cap. I canceled this trip because i got bad information from the previous trip but to protect the engine and the guest i canceled the trip.

The vehicle suited my original needs, but when the check engine light came on the day prior to drop off the host wanted me to drive the vehicle to him and not have it towed and properly inspected. The host also wanted to talk me through resetting the check engine light which I wouldn't have touched someone's vehicle in that manor in fear of making any issues worse and also the host knowing how to reset the check engine light made me think this was something that was done often to the vehicle and made me feel that the vehicle was potentially not safe for the 6 days I had it. The host also said if I dropped off the vehicle he would charge me half the Uber fee to take me home and if he took an Uber to get the vehicle I would have to pay for the Uber for him. He refused for the car to be towed and even though I paid for the enhanced roadside assistance that included towing I would've been paid for the tow because he offered to come get the vehicle at my personal address which I was nervous about a stranger having the address to my him. We later agreed that I would leave it at the leasing office of my community and leave the key in the vehicle. this is also the first Turo rental I have had that I picked up the vehicle personally from the owner and had to drop it off to the owner. I am use to cars having lock boxes with the keys and communicating via turo messages. All and all this was a nerve racking experience because even though it wasn't my vehicle the host was more concerned about getting his vehicle back by any means and making money then the safety of his customer and my feelings of driving a vehicle with a check engine light on.

THEODORE's response

I have 53 five star reviews in a row. This one breaks that at 53. I have hosted over 400 guests and this guest was the worst of the 400. Hosts beware.

Great experience, this was my first time using Turo and this only makes me want to continue booking. I will definitely recommend Ted if you are looking for a first class experience.
