The pickup location is fine. I was scheduled to pick up at 9:30. The car wasn't there. Messaged and texted the host. He didn't respond, or say he was going to be late, but he pulled up at 9:35. That's not a big deal, but if you weren't looking for the interaction and on a time crunch I can see where it would matter. The car is listed as a 2019 but it feels much older. It's...bouncy?? The sliding doors sound horrible and move slow. It'll make you nervous like, "is this going to make it"?? The temperature gauge on the car showed the car was getting really hot. Like, over heating. We had to put the heater on to draw heat off the engine. It was 98 degrees in Los Angeles at the time. I took several pictures to show the host how hot the car would get and how much the temperature gauge fluctuated. The headlights a yellow so, they don't shine brightly and they aren't aimed in the exact same manner so, one points more to the ground. I was nervous and wanted to return it immediately, but, we weren't going to be driving at night so, I ignored that. Returned it an hour and fifteen minutes early to avoid night driving. Picked up Friday, dropped off Monday. Battery was dead Saturday morning. We were in Seqouia National Park for my mom's birthday. We had to find a park ranger to give us a jump. That took more than an hour. The ranger said the battery was old, and cells were dead, he could jump it but we'd need to replace it. After it was jumped the battery light remained on. I had no service. Had to contact the host via WiFi at a museum in the park. He asked where I was and I told him the name of the museum. I was surprised when he asked me if I had AAA. When I responded yes, he said for me to call AAA and her reimburse me. I thought that was inappropriate and said, I don't know how much that would be (because realistically, what makes him have to reimburse me??? I don't know him. I know the battery in my car was over $200. Why would I hope to be reimbursed) I told him I thought it would it be more appropriate if HE called AAA and purchased a battery for his vehicle and that calling AAA wasn't going to be easy. There's no cell service. I told him never mind, this had already taken more than an hour, had my kids waiting for us to get a jump. We missed doing Morro Rock. He was clearly going to be no help. I'd just find another ranger if I needed to. In the end, with the overheating issue and the dead battery his resolve was a text that says, "Got it, I'll take it to the mechanic tomorrow sorry for the inconvenience this was unexpected". I've never rented a car on Turo before but...I would have assumed he would have offered a discount for all of this. I feel he knew that car shouldn't be rented out. It's not well maintained. The overhead console is tapped up. I wouldn't expect any of this from a 2019 vehicle. We also told him we were going to Seqouia. He didn't say the car wasn't maintained enough for that. Likely my first and last turo rental. There's just no guarantee or even assurance on this.

Pick up and drop off location was very convenient as I live in the same city. Instructions were very easy to follow. Host was also very responsive. The vehicle itself was fine for a 2019. It’s expected to have some cosmetic blemishes. It overall ran good and was convenient for a large family road trip. Very happy with the rental.
