Way better than an SUV rental

Power up

The future of cars has well and truly arrived. The eagerly anticipated utopia of petrol-free vehicles not only came with zero exhaust emissions but reimagined cockpits and a leap forward in driver experiences.

Electric car rental gives you a chance to try this new era of motoring, whether you want to experience the thrill of a Tesla, use electric car hire as an extended test drive to make a well-informed purchase, or simply want to make a sustainable choice on your next trip.

EV-peasy

Rent an electric car to see for yourself how simple and fun driving an EV really is.

The future of driving

When it comes to electric vehicles, excitement and safety go hand in hand. Cruise in a Tesla or a BMW i3 and experience the abundance of safety features, innovative driving modes and assistants, sure to leave you feeling electrified about the future of motoring.

Breathe easy

Electric vehicles have zero exhaust emissions, so they don’t contribute to air pollution like petrol and diesel cars. And it’s typically cheaper to run a car on electricity rather than topping up with fuel, making an EV a savvy car hire choice.

Go further

EV batteries are getting better and better, giving you more range than ever before and making electric vehicles a practical option for everyday use and longer road trips. Together with an ever-improving charging network, range anxiety is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Turo hosts have access to training materials on enhanced cleaning practices, using the latest recommendations compiled from the CDC, EPA, WHO, and vehicle detailing experts, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Is Turo a rental car company?

No. Unlike rental car companies, Turo is a peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace where you can book directly from trusted local car owners in the US, Canada, and the UK. Turo does not own any vehicles — Turo hosts share their own personal cars and set their own prices, discounts, vehicle availability, and delivery options.

Is there a fee to add additional drivers to my trip?

There is no fee or additional charge for adding a driver to your trip on Turo. Only the guest who booked the trip (primary driver) can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add authorized drivers before your trip starts, though guests in the US and Canada can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress with no extra charges.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

Are there electric vehicles available near the airport?

Yes, there are electric vehicles available on Turo at locations near airports across the US, Canada, and the UK. To save time and hassle, skip the rental car counter and have your electric vehicle delivered to you. Are electric vehicles more sustainable?

Most official studies conclude that in the long term, driving an EV is more sustainable than a traditional gas-powered car because it has zero tailpipe emissions and releases fewer greenhouse gasses. Especially as many countries turn to cleaner energy sources to power their electric grids, EVs will become even more sustainable. Battery production is resource-intensive, but EVs require less maintenance and last longer than gas-powered vehicles, and as battery recycling processes improve, fewer new materials will be required to produce them.

Additionally, Turo offsets 100% of its estimated global carbon emissions by investing in greenhouse gas-reducing projects. To achieve carbon-neutral travel across the marketplace, Turo purchases carbon offsets by investing in high-quality, verified emission reduction projects through a partnership with leading carbon offset developer Bluesource. These projects help combat climate change and balance out our carbon footprint through responsible forestry and improving efficiency in commercial trucking.
