The vehicle was returned with a busted windshield, not cracked. Busted and hood dented like someone jumped on it. The car had to be taken off TURO while I the host had to pay for the repairs myself. A day later, the front tire went flat. The tire shop told me there was a sidewall puncher. I had to buy 2 tires so; I was shocked when I saw this rating from the client especially since she is a smoker and returned my vehicles after a one day $50 rental with over $500 worth of damage 💔.

I want to start by saying that Turo is a convenient app and a great option if you need a quick Point A to Point B solution in a pinch. The booking process was simple, and it’s definitely useful when traditional rentals aren’t readily available. However, based on my first experience, I personally would not use the app again.

The 2015 Chevy Cruze I rented was not in the condition it was presented online. The vehicle was extremely dirty, had a strong unpleasant odor, visible stains throughout the interior, and noticeable grime on the steering wheel, dashboard, and cupholders. It was to the point that I had to purchase Lysol wipes to clean the steering wheel and the main surfaces I would be touching. I even placed a towel over the driver’s seat just to feel comfortable while driving. The condition of the car was honestly embarrassing, and I did not feel comfortable having anyone ride with me.

Additionally, a mechanical issue occurred during my rental that was not caused by me. I did not damage the vehicle, spill anything, or misuse it in any way. The issue was related to what appeared to be an internal mechanical component inside the door panel — something like a motor or fuse — which is not something a renter can physically access or cause under normal use. I made it clear that this was not due to negligence, but rather age or wear on the vehicle.

To be fair, the car did get me from Point A to Point B. However, this being my first Turo experience, it left a negative impression. I understand this host may be the only option in the area, but one bad experience can really change your perspective. In the future, I would likely choose a traditional rental company like Enterprise for peace of mind.
