Description

THIS IS THE ONLY E46 M3 ON TURO ON THE EAST COAST! Yes, there are some newer M3s listed on Turo, for more than three times the cost! Come rent a one-of-a-kind Turo car from a centrally-located Power Host. Our cars aren't way out in Reston or Herndon or Springfield or College Park or Upper Marlboro (not that there's anything wrong with those places) -- we are located right in DC, right between Georgetown and the National Cathedral. Easy pickup, easy drop-off, from a host with hundreds of 5-star reviews. Yes, I'm letting my collector's car get rented by other people. I want others to see why it's my favorite car. Why settle for a boring old BMW 3 Series or a new (computerized) M3 when you can rent this legendary car and see what all the fuss is about? Low-mileage versions of this car are regularly fetching north of $50K at auction. This is a great car to drive, it feels fantastic behind the wheel, and I can almost guarantee no matter where you are going, you will have the only one. When people come to rent my Mustang Shelby GT350 or my Porsche 911 (see other listings), so many of them see this car parked nearby and say, “Is that your E46 M3? Wish I could rent that too!” Car enthusiasts know this car — even now, people say the E46 M3 from 2002-2006 is the best M3 BMW has ever made. It’s a blast to drive! A real driver’s car. A few little quirks, but a blast on the open road. An affordable, fun, unique multi-day rental option. You could rent a Camry or Accord for a week, or you could spend $20 a day more and rent this, and be the talk of your neighborhood. You'll get looks from people who see it and know what it is. I got special permission from Turo to list this E46 even though you normally can’t list cars more than 12 years old. If you have dreamed about driving this car, or you have been thinking about investing in a used one, please come take mine for a spin! You can look up the main features of this model online. Here are some things to know about this car: (1) SMG transmission, not manual, but one of the first cars ever with paddle shifters and really fun on the open road; (2) Pioneer head unit installed, better speakers, brand new trunk subwoofer, Apple Car Play, and a rear camera, so a bit more modern and a good sound system for an older car; (3) cold air intake installed for a modest HP boost; (4) upgraded and adjustable suspension; (5) newly installed premium leather wrap on the steering wheel to give a luxury and upscale feel to the interior, and (6) a titanium exhaust which cuts 40 pounds. The car has good all-season tires, so it’s good for any weather except a big snowstorm. All of these things make the car seem a lot newer than 19 years, especially having a head unit with Apple Car Play and upgraded speakers. Many car experts think the E46 M3 was the pinnacle of the M cars. Please come try mine and you won't be disappointed! Please return the car clean and well-loved. It's my favorite. Like with my other cars, I want people to have fun, but please remember it’s not your car. I have trackers installed to monitor excessive speed and aggressive behavior. My E46 is certainly meant to be driven and it is well-maintained, but it's not meant to be a race car. These cars are becoming classics! The car is normally equipped with an EZ Pass transponder from Maryland, number 01603765706. For trips starting AFTER January 25, 2024, we are moving over to EZ Pass Virginia and the transponder number is 569836. For guests interested in renting other cars that are hard to find, I also have a 2019 Mustang GT350, a 2014 Porsche 911 coupe, a 2016 Porsche Boxster GTS, a 2017 Miata RF, three Mini Coopers, a 2024 Volvo XC90, and the recently added 2023 Volkswagen Golf R -- also the only Golf R in the area. Faqs

  • What are the key things to know about this car and the SMG transmission?

Here are the key things to understand. This car behaves lake a manual transmission car even though it's automatic, meaning it could roll on a hill coming off the brake, and it doesn't have P for park, that kind of thing. To park, you leave it in gear, turn off the car, and life the hand brake. To start it, shift the gear lever back to neutral before putting the key in. To toggle between manual mode (paddle shifters) and automatic, you push the gear lever to the right. When a small "D" appears next to the gear number you're in, the car is shifting on its own.

The car was making horrifying noise and I had to return it sooner. The host was very passive aggressive about me asking questions about the car. Don’t know where that’s coming from. Even though the E46 is the best M3 out there, I will not recommend people to rent this particular one. The car is obviously not well maintained. The owner even kept this issue from me when he handed me the car. It was later when I asked him about the noise that he told me “oh I should’ve mentioned this”. Yes he was responsive and was very flexible on the trip duration and the car selection, but that doesn’t make up for the outright rude attitude when it comes to me asking questions about his car, and blaming me for not knowing how the car drives like. So again, will not recommend people to rent this particular car from him. Maybe he’ll be less defensive about his other cars.

This car is amazing! Jeff maintained the 20 year old car really well and it feels brand new. Definitely the best car I’ve driven on Turo.

Jeff's response

It's my favorite too. Thank you!

This is my second time renting from Jeff and there will definitely be a third. Communication and pickup/drop off are easy and quick and his cars are beautifully maintained! The M3 was an absolute blast to drive and is in amazing condition for being 20 years old. It feels like it’s on rails and the sound is just as good as the handling
