When I picked up the car, the fuel tank was completely empty and the gas light was already on, which is unacceptable for a rental.
More importantly, I had serious concerns about the vehicle’s safety. The suspension/shocks felt extremely worn or damaged. Even going over very small bumps caused the car to feel unstable, almost as if the vehicle was going to lose control. The seat would rock so violently that it felt like it was going to throw me upward.
There also appeared to be a steering/suspension issue. When driving over road lines, uneven pavement, or bumps, the steering wheel would suddenly pull itself to the right, making the car feel like it could veer out of control. It felt like there could be an issue with a control arm or another part of the front suspension, although I cannot say exactly what the mechanical problem is.
I spent the entire time driving this vehicle sitting on the edge of my seat and worried about my safety. Between receiving the car on E with the gas light on and the serious handling and suspension issues, I did not feel comfortable driving it.
I strongly recommend that this vehicle be thoroughly inspected by a qualified mechanic before it is rented to anyone else. I would especially not recommend taking this vehicle on a long-distance or out-of-town trip.
