If I could give zero stars, I would.
My review is based primarily on the way my rental experience ended. I booked this vehicle about a week or two before my trip. I picked it up Friday morning and drove from Stockton, California, to Los Angeles without any issues. Even after making multiple stops throughout the weekend, the vehicle performed fine.
On Sunday afternoon, I started the car, drove to lunch with my kids, and then stopped for ice cream. When it was time to leave the ice cream shop, the car would not start. I made several attempts to resolve the issue myself, including trying to jump-start it with cables. My brother, who lives in Los Angeles, even contacted AAA, and they came out to assist. Unfortunately, the vehicle still would not start.
After spending hours stranded outside an ice cream shop with my children and no working vehicle, a tow truck finally arrived. When I contacted Turo customer service, I was given two options. The first was a replacement rental. However, by the time this was offered, it was already around 7:00–8:00 PM, and I had been sitting in the parking lot since approximately 2:00 PM. My entire day had already been ruined, and I was supposed to return home to Stockton the following morning. At that point, a replacement vehicle no longer made sense because I would have been heading back to my hotel for the night.
The second option was a full refund, which is what I requested. However, I was told that if I accepted a full refund, I would be responsible for finding my own transportation home. There was no offer to assist with travel arrangements or provide compensation for getting me and my children safely back to Stockton.
While the host was helpful at the beginning of the rental, I was disappointed by the lack of urgency and support when the vehicle became inoperable. If you choose to rent out a vehicle, I believe you should do everything possible to help when a customer experiences a serious issue. Instead, I was left stranded with my 8-year-old and 4-year-old children, uncertain about how I was going to get home.
Because of the lack of support and resolution, I cannot recommend Turo based on my experience. No customer should have to deal with this situation, especially while traveling with young children. Unfortunately, this experience has convinced me that I will never rent through Turo again.
Sorry for that unfortunate experience that you had. A blown relay was the cause after my mechanic received the car. Unfortunately relay and fuses are unpredictable to when they pop or go out. They can go a life time of a car without blowing or in this case 4 years. Unfortunately with the options Turo gave you. You went with a full refund without further assistance. We host cannot over turn that. We did not earn anything in this trip. Car broke down just hours before the car was due back last day
