Finally tested a hydrogen car! Instructions were clear, pick up and drop off with lock box were easy. I did a long trip, so fuel range and fuel cost played a role. Here is my experience:
• 240mi driven (ECO Mode, mountainous and flat terrain),
• 85% fuel used (ca. 4.25kg),
• 30% more range than projected (dashboard: 213mi → 28mi).
Chon provided a full tank at pick up and the "Prepaid fuel $70" extra kept my fuel cost affordable. As the efficiency of a hydrogen car decreases as it ages, you may consider renting Chon's newer Toyota Mirai 2021 as well, as it likely has higher range and lower per-mile fuel cost.
The car has a fancy steering wheel cover, which you can remove easily in case you are worried about it slipping. There is also a very firm and easy to use smartphone mount, for which I am very thankful. Happy to rent again!
